Salman brings new style statement with Ek Tha Tiger

EK THA TIGER has Salman Khan sporting both the keffiah and the ubiquitous gamcha as a fashion statement to cultivate an image and accentuate it, as also trigger the nuance among the fans to follow it up by lapping it. To attain the objective, Ashley Rebello the dress designer for EK THA TIGER is travelling around the country side and positioning the keffiah as a necessary fashion accessory for the fashion conscious male in the country. Keffiah which conventionally used to be black and white check now comes in different colors and indeed has become a style statement in the men's category and with Salman Khan pushing it in a big way through EK THA TIGER, it indeed is going to be a necessary fashion accessory this fall aka winter.

If one were to dwell in the history of Keffiah, the Palestinian leader Yaseer Arafat was one of the biggest promoters of Keffiah outside the gulf countries where it is a necessary accompaniment of male attire. But it did not gain currency probably owing to the fact that in Hindi cinema Keffiah when it was used earlier, it formed a part of the attire of the villain. It was Feroz Khan who brought it as a part of male attire through YALGAAR and later with WANTED, but Feroz Khan also could not push it may be owing to the fact that he did not had that kind of a legendary fan following that a Salman Khan has.

Salman Khan has however not been only promoting Keffiah through EK THA TIGER but is also seen sporting the ubiquitous gamcha as well, which became a new addition to the cinematic landscape through GANGS OF WASSEYPUR. But it was not for the first time that the humble gamcha was promoted as a fashion accessory, it was Big B who had used it with a flourish in BUNTY AUR BABLI where it was his leitmotif.

Ubiquitous gamcha was a part of the Hindi cinema landscape when the films had a rural setting, as gamcha still are an integral part of the attire in the country side. It indeed is a vital accompaniment in the rural India and it comes in all hues and colors and now that the urban India would also be sporting it with flourish after Salman starts pushing it, may be it would be a synthesis of fashion accessories of rural and urban India.
