Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu New Poster

Vidya Balan demands higher price than Farhan Akhtar for 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects'

Vidya Balan's new film, The Dirty Picture, is scheduled to open on Friday and it seems like the actress is in the mood to cash in on the overwhelming response that the film's pre-release hype has garnered.

Industry sources say Vidya has reportedly made it clear she will sign Pyar Ke Side Effects 2, an offer she has been made opposite Farhan Akhtar, only if she is paid a price higher than the film's hero. "Pritish Nandy Communications are planning Shaadi Ke Side Effects, a sequel to their 2006 comedy hit Pyaar Ke Side Effects. The buzz is that they are keen to have Vidya and Farhan on board," an industry source said.

The source further added that while Rangita, daughter of Pritish Nandy, is excited about casting Vidya opposite Farhan, details have to be worked out. However, the initial buzz about the film indicates that no sooner were feelers sent out, Vidya reportedly indicated she would sign the film only if she was satisfied with the role and also hinted that she should be paid more than Farhan.

"Vidya is right now riding the best phase of her career. After Ishqiya and No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture is proof that she is among the few heroines who can drive box-office prospects of a film. Also, she is a versatile actress. It's hardly surprising if she wants to command a higher price than the hero in a film that will ride on her glamour and talent in a big way," the source said.

Traditionally, the male-dominated Bollywood shies away from overpricing actresses. No matter how popular a heroine is, she is expected to earn a fee lower than the hero. The rare exception was Sridevi in the early 90s. Around the time when Amitabh Bachchan had taken a brief sabbatical from films, Sridevi had reportedly become the highest-paid star by topping the pay packets of contemporary male superstars.

The choice of the cast and crew of Shaadi Ke Side Effects will be decided soon and the film is expected to go on floors in the first half of 2012.

Rockstar will add 3 crore more in third week

Rockstar is likely to add around 3 crore nett plus in its third week as its third weekend grossed around 1.75 crore nett. The film managed to put 50 lakhs nett in both Mumbai and Delhi/UP. Rockstar film has done very well around the Delhi NCR area.

The film took a huge hit when Desi Boyz released on Friday with collections around the 30 lakhs nett mark but they more than doubled on Saturday and Monday numbers were a bit better than Friday.

Rockstar will have a 67.50 crore nett approx lifetime total which is similar to what Imtiaz Ali's last film Love Aaj Kal grossed in 2009. It is the sixth highest grossing film this year till date.

Desi Boyz face a big fall again on Tuesday

Desi Boyz had a big fall on Tuesday as collections were around 20-25% lower than its Monday collections. the film collected around 2.50-2.75 crore nett on Tuesday. This takes the films five day collection to around 31 crore nett.

The film is on a downward trend and not much business can be expected from here on.
Circuits like CPCI and Rajasthan all fell more than 25% on Tuesday than Monday. Delhi/UP also saw a big fall while East Punjab was the steadiest circuit.

The best business from day one was in Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan multiplexes but now even these are on a pretty big decline on a daily basis. The film may not cross the five crore nett mark in East Punjab or the ten crore nett mark in Delhi/UP.

Pakistan ban 'The Dirty Picture'

The Pakistan Censor Board has reportedly banned Milan Luthria's The Dirty Picture from being screened in their country.

Known for being conservative in its approach to cinema, this move doesn't really come as a shock.
Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures says he has heard about the ban.

A Bollywood trade source says, Earlier Aamir Khan's Delhi Belly was banned because of what was termed as lewd content; now the axe has fallen on The Dirty Picture that is considered not suitable for playing in cinema halls across Pakistan.''

Another trade source says, However Pakistan is one of the biggest consumers of Hindi cinema.
Pirated DVDs are reportedly available, sometimes even a day before the release Friday. So even if Dirty Picture doesn't play in theatres, it is quite likely that the film may still be widely seen.''

Karan Johar working on new trailer of 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' due to Censor problem

The Karan Johar produced Shakun Batra directed film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor has run into trouble. It is learnt that the film which is ready with its first trailer ran into trouble with the censor board objecting to the use of the word 'sex' in it. The censor board has given the trailer an 'A' certificate.

The scene in question is when a person asks Kareena and Imran whether they have had sex, to which they respond 'yes' and 'no' respectively. Apparently, with the new dikat of not allowing beeping out of words, the makers are working on creating a new trailer sans the word 'sex' for 'U' certification of the trailer.

However, till the new trailer is ready, the current one will be played along with The Dirty Picture that releases on December 2.

Desi Boyz show drop in business on Monday

Desi Boyz dropped on Monday as it collected around 3.50-3.75 crore nett as per early estimates. Delhi and Punjab held up best but most other places were 50-60% down from Friday collections. Even if all India collections showed a 50% drop it would not have been so great as the weekend was below the mark.

The first week is heading for collections in the 35-36 crore nett region and it is likely the film will wrap up its lifetime business with less than 50 crore nett.

The second week is likely to take a big hit with the release of The Dirty Picture and even after that there are major releases every week so it gives very little chance to Desi Boyz to put up any worthwhile numbers from Friday onwards.

The Dirty Picture Pre Release Boxoffice Opening Day Prediction - Gautam Batra

The Dirty Picture is an upcoming bollywood biopic based on the life of South Indian movie siren Silk Smitha. The movie stars Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Naseerudeen Shah & Tushar Kapoor in the lead. Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor , Shobha Kapoor together the movie is set to release on 2nd Dec 2011(The birth anniversary of Silk Smitha).

Lets start with the prediction....

1. Audience is keenly anticipating the movie since its poster & trailer was released. The Hit music with Ooh la la & Ishq Sufiyaana being a chartbuster has added a lot to the excitement.

2. Vidya Balan has good audience pull and it will be even better when she is playing such kinda role. Also the presence of Emraan Hashmi will help to bring audience.

3. The promos suggest full entertainment & though masses will be attracted which is a huge plus point.

4. The genre of the movie is not suitable for family audience & it has also got an 'A' certificate so a good part of audience will be restricted. Also it is not a big budget movie so release will not be huge.

On the whole 'The Dirty Picture' will open good specially in Single Screens. An opening day of 5.50-6.50 crore.

Disclaimer: The prediction is my own idea gathered from the surveys & buzz about the movies. It is accurate to best of my knowledge but the final boxoffice figures can be sometimes different due to uncertainity in boxoffice. The figures given are the nett domestic figures.

The Dirty Picture Movie Preview

Imagine a make-up girl who became an extra and then the most wanted heroine of the early 80s.

Chronicling the meteoric rise and steep fall of the erstwhile screen sensation - Silk Smitha, The Dirty Picture is set against the colorful and entertaining backdrop of the South film industry of the 80's.

The quintessential siren, Silk, knew her audiences, and it didn't seem like anything would stop the fiercely ambitious starlet, till it did, in the shape of unrequited love.

To the world, she was the queen of sensuality. But at heart, Silk was just another woman craving true love.

An unfortunate encounter with deceit and infidelity led to dire consequences!

Desi Boyz weekend business

Desi Boyz had an average weekend of 25 crore nett approx as per early estimates. The film grossed around 8 crore nett on Friday, another 8 crore nett on Saturday and 9 crore nett on Sunday.

The film failed to pick up especially at mass centres even on Sunday business was below the mark in single screens. Multiplex business was better but even that cannot be called good.
Only Punjab, Rajasthan and Delhi had put better than average numbers, the rest of the country is average with West Bengal and Nizam being poor.

Monday will depend at what levels the multiplexes can sustain as the film has been rejected by the single screen audience. Desi Boyz also has just one open week with The Dirty Picture releasing on Friday which makes it tough to put up a decent lifetime total.

Saturday, November 26, 2011

Let It Be (Song Promo) Desi Boyz Feat-John Abraham | Akshay Kumar

Preity to return with 'Ishkq In Paris'

Preity Zinta, who has been missing from the silver screens for quite some time now, will resurface in year 2012 with her home production 'Ishkq In Paris'. Preity, who was last seen in Sameer Karnik's 'Heroes', announced on Twitter that her upcoming project will release in the coming year.

"For all who want to know... My new Movie is called 'Ishkq In Paris' and it will be out in 2012! So don't worry... You all will see me soon!" tweeted Zinta on the micro-blogging site.

Preity plays a half -Indian half-French girl in this Indo-French venture and the dimpled darling has already started learning French to make her character look more convincing.

Written and directed by Prem Soni ,
'Ishkq In Paris' will be produced by Preity's own production house, PZNZ Media and is said to be inspired by Hollywood's 'Before Sunrise'.

Desi Boyz First Day Early Estimates

Desi Boyz first day business is likley to be 7.75-8 crore nett as per early estimates. It is a reasonable total but considering the big release its not that good as films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan did similar business on a smaller release but on the other hand a Singham did just 10% more on a similar release.

The film was helped by buisness in areas where Akshay Kumar has huge popularity like Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat and Rajasthan as well as CI. These areas all put up solid numbers while business in West Bengal and South was on the lower side.

Normal weekend trending will take film to around 25-26 crore nett business for the weekend but the film will have to go near the 30 crore nett mark to make it a decent weekend and a near 30 crore total would also mean it will hold up on weekdays.

Rockstar two week total business

Rockstar held up well in week two as it grossed around 16 crore nett taking its five day total to 63.50 crore nett. The drop in week two was 65% and in the scheme of things at the box office today that is pretty good.

The film was strong in East Punjab with a 1.94 crore nett total in week two compared to 5.16 crore nett in week one which is a 62% drop. Delhi/UP and Mysore also held up well. Mumbai city and Pune also held up though the Mumbai circuit drop was more as Gujarat fell 70% plus.

Despite the release of Desi Boyz the film may get around 68-70 crore nett as high end multiplexes will collect this week as well.

Desi Boyz takes decent opening in single screens

Desi Boyz had a decent opening at single screens of 40-50%. Although Desi boyz is more of a multiplex film it managed to get footfalls in single screens as Akshay Kumar has huge star pull with the mass audience. Below are the first show figures for Kanpur.

Heer - 14,535/37,572

Manjushree - 7,276/26,941

Shyam 8,604/18,848

Maharashtra bandh affects Desi Boyz

Desi Boyz was hit badly in the Maharashtra area as a bandh was called in many cities of the state due to an assault on agricultural minister Sharad Pawar in Delhi yesterday.

The main cities to be be affected are Pune and Kohlapur and collections of Desi Boyz from the Maharashtra area will be very low for the first day. The area forms around 20% of the Mumbai circuit.

Normally a film makes up losses like this over the next few days as long its only a one day issue and reports are not bad.

Don Says Teaser 7/11

Desi Boyz Movie Review - Komal Nahta

Two friends, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, find themselves jobless due to the economic downturn. To tide over the difficult times and to fulfil the dreams of their loved ones, they turn to the oldest profession in the world. What happens then? Read the review of Desi Boyz for more.

Business rating: 3.5 / 5 stars

Star cast:Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Chitrangada Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Anupam Kher, Omi Vaidya.

What’s Good: Performances; several comic punches; the music.

What’s Bad: Emotional scenes are a bit hurried; some scenes are repetitive in the second half; climax looks a bit incomplete.

Verdict:Desi Boyz is a feel good entertainer.

Loo break: None.

Watch or Not?: Watch Desi Boyz for the music, comedy and performances.

Eros International’s Desi Boyz (A) is the story of two friends, Jerry alias Jignesh Patel (Akshay Kumar) and Nick Mathur (John Abraham), who live in London and who are hit hard by recession. Jerry does odd jobs for a living as he is an undergraduate but Nick has a white-collar job. However, both find themselves jobless due to the economic downturn. Jerry has a little, school-going nephew (Master Virej Desai) to look after as the child has lost both his parents. Nick is to marry his girlfriend, Radhika Awasthi (Deepika Padukone), who dreams of a lovely wedding, a great honeymoon and a wonderful house to live in after marriage.

Out of job, Jerry finds it difficult to even pay the school fees of his nephew because of which the government is on the verge of giving the custody of his nephew to a foster family. Nick fears, he won’t be able to fulfil the dreams of his to-be wife. It is to tide over the difficult times that Jerry and Nick turn to the oldest profession in the world. They become male escorts, fulfilling the costume fantasies of girls and ladies. Ironically, Jerry can’t ultimately prevent his nephew from being sent to a foster home; and Nick loses Radhika when she learns of what he has been up to while she is away in India. Frustrated, Nick blames Jerry for forcing him into the profession and asks him to move out of his house and life.

Nick now tries hard to win Radhika back and help comes from the most unlikely source – Radhika’s father (Anupam Kher) who has come to London with her. Meanwhile, Jerry registers in college again to complete his graduation so that he can earn enough money to get his nephew back home. In college, Jerry meets Tanya Sharma (Chitrangada Singh) who used to be his over-sized classmate and is now a hot and a sexy professor in the same college. Sparks fly between Jerry and Tanya.

What happens thereafter? Is Jerry able to pass his examinations and get a degree? Does he get a job? Does Radhika forgive Nick? Or does she settle down with Ajay (Omi Vaidya), a lawyer-friend of hers? And what about Jerry’s nephew – does he unite with Jerry?

Desi Boyz Review: Script Analysis

The story, penned by Rohit Dhawan, is quite fresh as topics such as recession and friendship have not been used the way they have been in this film. Also, the two main male protagonists of the drama turning to the profession of male escorting is a new twist in the tale. Rohit Dhawan’s screenplay is also fresh and moves at a fast pace most of the times. The best part of the screenplay is that it treats the subject of recession, break-up of friendship, heartbreak, and family drama in a light-hearted manner and keeps the audience entertained throughout. Perhaps, the only two places where the screenplay is found wanting are the portions when Nick is trying to woo Radhika back and in the emotional drama of Jerry and his nephew. The track of Nick trying to make up with Radhika gets a bit repetitive till Ajay arrives on the scene (which portion is really interesting). The emotional impact of Jerry and his nephew’s separation and the scenes of the nephew in the foster home should’ve been far more emotional and dramatic. The climax looks a bit incomplete. However, in spite of these shortcomings, the fact remains that the drama is engaging and entertaining. Comedy evokes laughter at many places. In particular, the track of the owner of the Desi Boyz Club (Sanjay Dutt), the sequences of Ajay and Radhika and then in the court, the sequence of Jignesh’s mother (Bharti Achrekar) and the sequence of the job interview of Jerry after his graduation and how he embarrasses the boss (Satish Kaushik) in the interview are highlights. Dialogues, written Renuka Kunzru, are excellent.

Desi Boyz Review: Star Performances

Akshay Kumar, known for his fantastic sense of comic timing, does remarkably well in the comic role. He is also suitably restrained in the emotional scenes. This film will help him resurrect himself after his recent spate of flops and average grossers. His dances are delightful. John Abraham spring a pleasant surprise with a free-spirited performance. He has improved tremendously in comedy. He is also quite free in dances. Deepika Padukone looks glamorous, exudes sex appeal and acts with effortless ease. Chitrangada Singh is another surprise, having made a confident and smooth transition from art to commercial cinema. She looks sexy and acts well. Sanjay Dutt is a highlight and leaves a mark whenever he comes. The background music which accompanies his arrival is a masterstroke. Omi Vaidya is just too cute and delivers a wonderful performance. Master Virej Desai is lovable. Anupam Kher entertains with a natural performance. His dialogue about getting ambitious is interesting and enjoyable. Mohnish Bahl leaves a mark for his dignified acting. Bharti Achrekar is extraordinary and makes her presence wonderfully felt. Satish Kaushik is very good. Suparna Marwah is nice as the judge.

Desi Boyz Review: Direction & Music

Rohit Dhawan makes a confident debut as director. He knows the art and craft of filmmaking and credit to him for extracting good performances from his cast and also not letting the drama dip in entertainment value. He, however, needs to treat emotional scenes with a little more dexterity. Pritam’s music is a major plus point. All the songs are delightful. The title track is the best number. Subah hone na de, Allah maaf kare and Jhak maar ke are also entertaining songs. Let it be appeals in its own way. Lyrics (Kumaar, Irshad Kamil and Amitabh Bhattacharya) go well with the mood of the film. Song picturisations are very eye-filling, thanks to Bosco-Caesar’s choreography. Natarajan Subramanian’s camerawork is splendid. The foreign locations and the actors have all looked beautiful. Sets, erected by Sukant Panigrahi and Helen Jones, are lovely. Production values are rich. Technical aspects are of a high standard.

Desi Boyz Review: Komal Nahta’s Verdict

On the whole, Desi Boyz is an enjoyable entertainer which will keep its producers, distributors and exhibitors happy. Its business in the bigger cities will be better.

Desi Boyz starts on a low note

Desi Boyz had a decent opening in the multiplexes of North India of around 50% but elsewhere early show collections at multiplexes were well below the mark at around 30-40%. Punjab took the best opening as multiplexes in Ludhiana and Jalandhar opened to 55% plus while Delhi was around 45%. Collections in UP and Rajasthan multiplexes were lower.

In the rest of the country, only Ahmedabad can be called decent but on an all India level the opening is below the mark. Collections in West Bengal multiplexes were very bad. On an all India average the opening is around 35-40%.

Desi Boyz has a huge release so can put up decent collections on day one especially if there is a pick up in the evening which should happen as collections in the morning are at low levels.

Don 2 Music Review - Joginder Tuteja

EXPECTATIONS

There are immense expectations from the music of Don 2and there are quite a few reasons for that:

- This is one of the most anticipated sequels of the current times and actually takes the story forward, hence almost warranting that good music would be the soul here
- Music of Don - The Chase Begins is still playing, courtesy 'Aaj Ki Raat' which is popular despite being heard first half a decade ago
- Music coming from the house of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani always promises a certain degree of class
- Whenever Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Javed Akhtar have come together, they have seldom failed
With such factors raising one's expectations to a real high, nothing less than fantabulous is acceptable for the music of Don 2.

MUSIC

Shah Rukh Khan's begins the album with a 35 second long monologue where he hints of his arrival all over again. In the current scenario, this could well be a statement from him to all his detractors (in real life as well) where he conveys the point loud and clear that he would never fade away in oblivion and it's a matter of time that 'he is back'.

Next to arrive is the title song which goes as 'Zaraa Dil Ko Thaam Lo'. This track basically picks thread from 'Aaj Ki Raat' and aims at bringing back the sound of the early 80s though in a fresh new presentation with clear inspiration from James Bond flicks. Nothing wrong with that as it actually goes well with the film's genre and it creates the kind of mood which is expected from the genre to which Don 2 belongs. While Anusha Mani begins the proceedings, it is Vishal Dadlani who arrives a little later in the day with the quartet of Raman Mahadevan, Mani Mahadevan, Siddharth Mahadevan and Kshitij Wagh coming together for a chorus. Not the kind that you would hum around the streets, this one is basically a theme track that should take the story forward.

What catches your attention though is 'Hai Ye Maya' which fuses the action genre of late 70s/early 80s well with the contemporary sound hence fully justifying it's inclusion in Don 2. Expect the song to play at various junctures in the film as and when there is a thrilling encounter involving Shah Rukh Khan. Though in last few years Usha Uthup has come behind the mike for many a Bollywood tracks, it is 'Hai Ye Maya' which turns out to be her best in ages. It is remarkable to see the lady doing exceedingly well and holding her own in the times when dozens of youngsters have come and gone. Add to this the kind of composition that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have managed here and there is all the more reason to grab the 'remix version' with both ears!

Listening to 'Dushman Mera' reminds of many a cabaret sequences from the 70s that had the likes of Helen, Padma Khanna or Bindu gyrating to a fast paced tune in a villain's den. The song in question has a female protagonist hunting for her 'dushman' with the man of the moment having his own score to settle with his enemies. While Sunitha Sarathi is an unconventional choice as a singer here, she still does well. However what is surprising is to hear Shankar Mahadevan sounding so differently from his usual self. Also, one wonders why there wasn't another singer roped in for the job as Shankar seems a bit out of place here.

Thankfully fun is restored soon after with 'The King Is Back - Theme'. A four minute long piece that takes forward the anthem of 'Don' that has been popular for over three decades now, this one is an absolute killer with Sunitha Sarathi justifying her inclusion as the singer here. She has a few words to mouth though in this musical piece which acts as a wonderful background score, so much so that one can't have enough of it despite hearing it repeatedly.

Shaan's version of 'Main Hoon Don' from Don - The Chase Begins Again is presented again in Don 2 as 'Mujhko Pehchaanlo'. This time around the man who has been entrusted with the responsibility of being the voice of 'Don' is K.K. who comes up with a full throated rendition. Surprisingly though, the zing of the original is missing here what with neither the voice nor the overall arrangements really cutting the ice. Lyrics are different this time around and though yet again it's the call of the central protagonist for his enemies to be aware of his second coming, the thrill is missing here as well as in the 'remix version'.

Last to arrive is 'The 'Don' Waltz' and while it may go along well with the film's narrative, the only exciting portion for the listener here is the point where Caralisa Monteiro brings back the theme sound of Don.

OVERALL

As mentioned at the very beginning, nothing less than a rocking album was expected from Don 2. However, what one gets to hear is a soundtrack which is pretty much a mixed bag. At places it works while at points, it just doesn't make you jump with joy. Also, there isn't anything which comes across as memorable enough to be played a few months down the line, leave aside a few years. Eventually what you get is a soundtrack that would go along with the narrative and acts as a good situational ingredient but that's about it.

OUR PICK(S)

Hai Ye Maya, The King Is Back - Theme, Zaraa Dil Ko Thaam Lo

5. The pairing of Akshay & John has been loved by masses in Garam Masala so they will surely love to go for it. Also Akshay, Chirangda & John Deepika pairing seems fresh.

6. The movie trailers give very fresh feel in it which will surely excite audiences in both multiplexes & single screens.

7. Audience is awaiting a complete entertaining film from a long time as no movie in past is universally accepted & it is coming after two weeks from Rockstar which is currently on the drop.

On the whole Desi Boyz will have a good opening day but not extraordinary. Opening day of 8.5-9.5 crore nett can be expected.

Disclaimer:The prediction is my own idea gathered from the surveys & buzz about the movies. It is accurate to best of my knowledge but the final boxoffice figures can be sometimes different due to uncertainity in boxoffice. The figures given are the nett domestic figures.

The Dirty Picture Music Review - Joginder Tuteja

EXPECTATIONS

On a regular day one wouldn't have been too sure about what to expect from the music of The Dirty Picture. After all, the film recounts the 80s era, tells the tale of Silk Smitha and has an unconventional pairing of Vidya Balan with men like Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor. Moreover with Vishal-Shekhar coming on board and writer Rajat Aroraa turning lyricist for an entire album for the first time ever, there is further intrigue quotient to the entire soundtrack. However what makes one hopeful of a fun outing in the offering is the single most factor which is also the USP of the album - 'Ooh La La'. With the song pretty much catching attention of audience ever since it's sound was unveiled a few months ago, one looks forward to what does the rest of the album have to offer.

MUSIC

Expectedly it is a fun beginning with 'Ooh La La' giving The Dirty Picture a smashing start with the kind of arrangements that are totally set in the 80s mode. In fact for those who have been brought up in the 80s era would really sense the kind of nuances that have been taken care of by Vishal-Shekhar who go all the way in creating a riotous outing. Also Rajat Aroraa's lyrics deserve special mention here for the kind of word-spinning he does in order to bring in a sensual-n-naughty mood come alive on screen. However none of that would have been possible if not for Bappi Lahiri and Shreya Ghoshal who have clearly smashed it big time with their rendition and are seemingly having so much fun behind the mike that one can well expect them to have continued singing even after Vishal-Shekhar would have called 'okay'. A special mention for the second half of the song where the entire mood of the song shifts from Jeetendra's 'Himmatwala'/'Tohfa' mood to that of Mithun Chakravorty's 'Disco Dancer'/'Kasam Paida Karne Waale Ki' with Bappi Lahiri bringing back the mood bang on. This is the reason why even though there is a 'Dhol Mix' that arrives at the end of the album, one still wants to stick to the original here.

There is a shift in the album though with singer Kamal Khan crooning Ishq Sufiyana, a number that is tailor made for Emraan Hashmi. Reminding of the style that director Milan Luthria had adopted in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai for the songs 'Pee Loon' and 'Tum Jo Aaye', even 'Ishq Sufiyana' gets into a similar mode and ensures that the album would have one more chartbuster to it's name that would go all the way in fetching audience's attention. A Sufi track that has an out and out 'desi' feel to it and is thankfully not adulterated by any Western influences, it also appears in an added version with Sunidhi Chauhan coming behind the mike. However one does wish that if only Rahat Fateh Ali Khan could have been roped to do a solo version of this song, 'Ishq Sufiyana' may have reached further heights.

It is back to retro outing with 'Honeymoon Ki Raat' which again reminds one of the Bappi Lahiri-Mithun Chakravorty combo of the 80s. The lyrics here are out and out cheesy (as was expected from a film of this genre) what with 'Kaamdev Ka Sutra', 'Honeymoon Ki Raat' and 'Whsikey Si Chadti Hoon' forming a part of Sunidhi Chauhan's rendition. A song that seems like a night club outing, it doesn't quite go all the way and falls short of being a naughty outing that it could have been. Now one waits to see how the song is picturised because only that could help it rise from being ordinary to something that is indeed noticeable.

Last to arrive is 'Twinkle Twinkle' which takes the album back into the naughty mood of the South films of the 80s, something that was always on the cards. With lyrics comprising of 'Twinkle Twinkle', 'Jack-n-Jill', 'Humpty-Dumpty' and 'Johny Ka Papa', this one could well be the 'Chammak Challo' moment for Vidya Balan in the overall set up of 'The Dirty Picture'. While Shreya Ghoshal starts the song well with Vishal-Shekhar bringing on the beats that remind of 'Mehbooba Mehbooba' [Sholay], it is the arrival of Rana Mazumder that adds further variation as it takes the song into 'Yamma Yamma' [Shaan] mode. Pretty much the kind of song where Vishal-Shekhar got an opportunity to pay homage (yet again) to R.D. Burman, it's a pity that 'Twinkle Twinkle' ends in three minutes flat.

OVERALL

Music of The Dirty Picture takes the expected route and delivers what it promised once 'Ooo La La' came on air. While this song is a chartbuster all the way, even 'Ishq Sufiyana' has in it to find long legs for itself, courtesy Emraan Hashmi's strong fan base lapping it up. As for the added 'tadka' there is 'Twinkle Twinkle' that should keep the mood naughty-n-entertaining, as is the theme and genre of the film as well.

Ranveer - Anushka to star together again in 'Bombay Velvet'

From the time BAND BAAJA BAARAT clicked at Box-office, Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma have certainly become a hot favourite jodi of B-town. Every other filmmaker is eyeing to have the hot pair in their film. The latest to get smitten by the Jodi is none other than ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

After the news that the perfectionist superstar of Bollywood, Aamir Khan, who was initially approached by Anurag for his venture BOMBAY VELVET, has been replaced by the heartthrob Ranveer, now its being held that Anurag has casted the Jodi - Ranveer and Anushka in the film.

However they will star in one of the parts of BOMBAY VELVET trilogy.

Meanwhile, Ranveer and Anushka are busy gearing up for their upcoming film LADIES VS RICKY BAHL with YRF, which is due for release next month.

Great going Ranveer and Anushka!

Desi Boyz gets 'A' certificate, The Dirty Picture passed without any cut

The censor board seems to be throwing surprises at the film industry - pleasant ones for some and unpleasant ones for the others.

Two big upcoming films were examined by the Censor board this week and the committee's decision has surprised many. Apparently Akshay Kumar and John Abraham's Desi Boyz has been granted an A certificate while Vidya Balan's portrayal of a sex-symbol in The Dirty Picture has been passed without any cuts.

Says a source, "The makers of Desi Boyz were expecting a U/A certificate since it's a big-budget film and with Akshay and John in the cast they were largely targeting the family audience and youth as well. Unfortunately for them, the film has been given an Adult certification". Akshay Kumar and John Abraham plays male strippers in the film and perhaps that might have resulted into the board's decision.

On the other hand the makers of The Dirty Picture were a bit nervous about the censorship. "While they were clearly expecting an adult certificate (with Vidya Balan's liberal dose of skin-show), they were a bit apprehensive if the Censor board would ask them for any cuts". The film has also been in controversy with Silk Smitha's brother filing case against wrong portrayal of her late sister in the film. However the censor did not see any problem and the film has been passed without any cuts.

Aamir's Talaash promo to come with Shahrukh's Don 2

Guess this would be one of those rare scenarios where audience would be able to see Aamir Khan along with Shah Rukh Khan at the same place. No, they are not coming together for a film. However Aamir's film Talaash would be making it's presence felt along with Shah Rukh's Don 2 since both films belong to the same production house.

"Yes, the First Look of Talaash would be attached to the prints of Don 2. It has been a call taken by producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Shah Rukh as well as Aamir are fine with it. For audience, this would be nothing less than a double whammy of sorts since it would be for the first time anything related to Talaash would be showcased", informs out well informed source.

For last few months there have been immense speculations around the real plot of Talaash. Rumours have ranged from Aamir playing a cop to his spirit doing an investigation to Rani Mukerji playing his wife to Kareena enacting the character of a prostitute. However, the makers have chosen to stay mum all this while and are now using Don 2 as a platform to establish the real feel of the film.

"What also makes this further interesting is the fact that Shah Rukh and Aamir are also the co-producers along with Ritesh and Farhan on these respective films. Shah Rukh too is fine with promo of Aamir's film being attached to his Don 2. Moreover there hasn't been any real tension between Shah Rukh and Aamir even though latter is good pals with Salman", the source continues.

This also translates into the fact that the makers of Talaash are now actively kick-starting an active promotional campaign full six months in advance. Even though this dramatic thriller directed by Reema Kagti would arrive only in June next year, everyone associated with the film feel that it would be good to reveal at least a little bit about Talaash well in advance so that all speculations can be quashed.

On contacted, Ritesh confirmed the news. He said, "Talaash is the final title and we would be unveiling the film along with Don 2."
