For the year ending March 2011, Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek and his daughter-in-law Aishwarya will collectively pay an income tax of Rs 37.55 cr.
It may have gone unnoticed that for the last few years, the Bachchan parivaar has invariably been one of the highest tax paying families of the entertainment industry. A source says, "2010-11 has been one of the most prolific years for the Bachchans. Each of them has had multiple film releases. They have also done an enviable number of commercials. So the collective earnings of the three have totalled up to an impressive amount. Hence they have ended up with these high income-tax figures.''
It may be recalled that in the past couple of years Akshay Kumar with Rs 18 crores, Hrithik Roshan with Rs 15.10 crores and Shah Rukh Khan with Rs 14 crores also figured on the list of the highest tax payers in the film industry.
