Sanjay Leela Bhansali is very particular when it comes to the first day shoot of his films. Without exception, the director has flagged off all his films with a dance sequence by his leading lady, which usually runs into three to four days.
Be it Manisha Koirala in Khamoshi, Aishwarya Rai in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Sonam Kapoor in Saawariya or Aishwarya again in Guzaarish; all actresses have strictly adhered to Bhansali's signature style (call it a quirk), although it may not have been convenient at times.
However, Kareena Kapoor, who is the heroine (Leela) of Bhansali's much talked about next Ram Leela, is proving to be an exception to the norm. The actress, who has to perform an intricate classical item, has asked the director to postpone her dance sequence, originally slated for July 21, by at least six months. And, the otherwise obstinate Bhansali has been compelled to give in to Bebo's demands.
Reportedly, Kareena told Bhansali she would rather enroll with a trainer for the complicated classical sequence he had in mind. Apparently, the actress is a tad nervous given the complex nature of the dance which is possibly why she has asked the director for more time.
Bhansali though has been left with little option. "What could he do? He knows Kareena wants the best for the film. He reasoned out with her but she stuck to her guns. She had her reasons. She told him clearly that the dance he wanted her to perform was something that would appear really beautiful on celluloid but she didn't want to do a hurried job and make a hotch-potch of it," said a source close to the project.
The source added, "He cannot go with the original plan now. The details of the first day have been revised."Meanwhile, Bebo is readying to start her professional training for the number.
