Vidya Balan demands higher price than Farhan Akhtar for 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects'
Industry sources say Vidya has reportedly made it clear she will sign Pyar Ke Side Effects 2, an offer she has been made opposite Farhan Akhtar, only if she is paid a price higher than the film's hero. "Pritish Nandy Communications are planning Shaadi Ke Side Effects, a sequel to their 2006 comedy hit Pyaar Ke Side Effects. The buzz is that they are keen to have Vidya and Farhan on board," an industry source said.
The source further added that while Rangita, daughter of Pritish Nandy, is excited about casting Vidya opposite Farhan, details have to be worked out. However, the initial buzz about the film indicates that no sooner were feelers sent out, Vidya reportedly indicated she would sign the film only if she was satisfied with the role and also hinted that she should be paid more than Farhan.
"Vidya is right now riding the best phase of her career. After Ishqiya and No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture is proof that she is among the few heroines who can drive box-office prospects of a film. Also, she is a versatile actress. It's hardly surprising if she wants to command a higher price than the hero in a film that will ride on her glamour and talent in a big way," the source said.
Traditionally, the male-dominated Bollywood shies away from overpricing actresses. No matter how popular a heroine is, she is expected to earn a fee lower than the hero. The rare exception was Sridevi in the early 90s. Around the time when Amitabh Bachchan had taken a brief sabbatical from films, Sridevi had reportedly become the highest-paid star by topping the pay packets of contemporary male superstars.
The choice of the cast and crew of Shaadi Ke Side Effects will be decided soon and the film is expected to go on floors in the first half of 2012.

Desi Boyz show drop in business on Monday
Desi Boyz dropped on Monday as it collected around 3.50-3.75 crore nett as per early estimates. Delhi and Punjab held up best but most other places were 50-60% down from Friday collections. Even if all India collections showed a 50% drop it would not have been so great as the weekend was below the mark.
The first week is heading for collections in the 35-36 crore nett region and it is likely the film will wrap up its lifetime business with less than 50 crore nett.
The second week is likely to take a big hit with the release of The Dirty Picture and even after that there are major releases every week so it gives very little chance to Desi Boyz to put up any worthwhile numbers from Friday onwards.

Desi Boyz First Day Early Estimates
Rockstar two week total business
Rockstar held up well in week two as it grossed around 16 crore nett taking its five day total to 63.50 crore nett. The drop in week two was 65% and in the scheme of things at the box office today that is pretty good.
The film was strong in East Punjab with a 1.94 crore nett total in week two compared to 5.16 crore nett in week one which is a 62% drop. Delhi/UP and Mysore also held up well. Mumbai city and Pune also held up though the Mumbai circuit drop was more as Gujarat fell 70% plus.

Maharashtra bandh affects Desi Boyz
Desi Boyz was hit badly in the Maharashtra area as a bandh was called in many cities of the state due to an assault on agricultural minister Sharad Pawar in Delhi yesterday.
The main cities to be be affected are Pune and Kohlapur and collections of Desi Boyz from the Maharashtra area will be very low for the first day. The area forms around 20% of the Mumbai circuit.
Normally a film makes up losses like this over the next few days as long its only a one day issue and reports are not bad.
Desi Boyz Movie Review - Komal Nahta
Desi Boyz starts on a low note
Desi Boyz had a decent opening in the multiplexes of North India of around 50% but elsewhere early show collections at multiplexes were well below the mark at around 30-40%. Punjab took the best opening as multiplexes in Ludhiana and Jalandhar opened to 55% plus while Delhi was around 45%. Collections in UP and Rajasthan multiplexes were lower.
In the rest of the country, only Ahmedabad can be called decent but on an all India level the opening is below the mark. Collections in West Bengal multiplexes were very bad. On an all India average the opening is around 35-40%.
Desi Boyz has a huge release so can put up decent collections on day one especially if there is a pick up in the evening which should happen as collections in the morning are at low levels.

Don 2 Movie Preview
A 'wanted' man, 5 years ago, he was being hunted by law enforcement agencies of 11 countries. After a cat-and-mouse game of his own archestration, where he duped everyone into believing that he was the paan-chewing simpleton Vijay. Don walked away tall and victorious - the new, invincible king of the entire Asian underworld.
This time around, wilier and even more ruthless than before, Don is ready for bigger game. A master plan that will destroy all his enemies and virtually bring Europe to its knees!
Priyanka Chopra: Roma
Don's 'Junglee Billee', in her quest to avenge the cold-blooded murder of her brother Ramesh at the hands of Don, she fell in love with Don's innocent look alike Vijay... only to shockingly discover that Vijay was actually Don.
Now, years later, determined to seek vengeance, she has joined the Interpol and is part of their worldwide hunt for Don. When she does find him, will it be payback time for Don? Or are there same tender feelings still lingering underneath all the hatred that feels for him?
Boman Irani: Vardhaan
He was masquerading as DCP De'Silva when we first met him. The dual identity was all part of an elaborate subterfuge. Years ago, Singhania had double-crossed him and Vardhaan managed to settle the score by assassination. But his best=laid plans hadn't taken into account Don's scheming mind, which ensured that Vardhaan fell victim to his own trap.
And can he be trusted if he does?
Om Puri: Mallik
An Interpol officer, his life's mission seems to be the capture of Don. He's spent years pursuing him. Now, also a mentor to Roma, he is willing to do all it takes to accomplish what he started out to do.
But when he does come face-to-face with Don, will he manage to apprehend him? Or will he become another pawn in Don's hands, like many have before him?
Rajesh Khattar: Singhania
The original kingpin, Singhania had entrusted the running of his drug cartel to his trusted lieutenant Don. But Don had always has other plans. He took Singhania out of the equation with a major stroke by getting Vardhaan to do the fatal job and took over the cartel.
Although deceased, Singhania still has a part to play in Don's destiny. He has left behind a safety deposit box in Switzerland... The contents of which hold the key to Don's new master plan.
The police in their pursuit of Don unknowingly hired the very man they were trying to hunt. Don used this to his advantage and let the police and his former associates battle each other while he escaped much to the bewilderment of everyone leaving no traces of evidence of his whereabouts.
Having conquered the Asian underworld, Don (Khan) now has his sights set on European domination. In his way are the bosses of the existing European underworld and all law enforcement agencies.
The action shifts from Kuala Lumpur to Berlin as Don must avoid assassination or arrest, whichever comes first, in order for his plan to succeed.
Don 2 Music Review - Joginder Tuteja
- This is one of the most anticipated sequels of the current times and actually takes the story forward, hence almost warranting that good music would be the soul here
- Music of Don - The Chase Begins is still playing, courtesy 'Aaj Ki Raat' which is popular despite being heard first half a decade ago
- Music coming from the house of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani always promises a certain degree of class
- Whenever Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Javed Akhtar have come together, they have seldom failed
With such factors raising one's expectations to a real high, nothing less than fantabulous is acceptable for the music of Don 2.
Listening to 'Dushman Mera' reminds of many a cabaret sequences from the 70s that had the likes of Helen, Padma Khanna or Bindu gyrating to a fast paced tune in a villain's den. The song in question has a female protagonist hunting for her 'dushman' with the man of the moment having his own score to settle with his enemies. While Sunitha Sarathi is an unconventional choice as a singer here, she still does well. However what is surprising is to hear Shankar Mahadevan sounding so differently from his usual self. Also, one wonders why there wasn't another singer roped in for the job as Shankar seems a bit out of place here.
Thankfully fun is restored soon after with 'The King Is Back - Theme'. A four minute long piece that takes forward the anthem of 'Don' that has been popular for over three decades now, this one is an absolute killer with Sunitha Sarathi justifying her inclusion as the singer here. She has a few words to mouth though in this musical piece which acts as a wonderful background score, so much so that one can't have enough of it despite hearing it repeatedly.
Last to arrive is 'The 'Don' Waltz' and while it may go along well with the film's narrative, the only exciting portion for the listener here is the point where Caralisa Monteiro brings back the theme sound of Don.
OVERALL
As mentioned at the very beginning, nothing less than a rocking album was expected from Don 2. However, what one gets to hear is a soundtrack which is pretty much a mixed bag. At places it works while at points, it just doesn't make you jump with joy. Also, there isn't anything which comes across as memorable enough to be played a few months down the line, leave aside a few years. Eventually what you get is a soundtrack that would go along with the narrative and acts as a good situational ingredient but that's about it.

The Dirty Picture Music Review - Joginder Tuteja
Last to arrive is 'Twinkle Twinkle' which takes the album back into the naughty mood of the South films of the 80s, something that was always on the cards. With lyrics comprising of 'Twinkle Twinkle', 'Jack-n-Jill', 'Humpty-Dumpty' and 'Johny Ka Papa', this one could well be the 'Chammak Challo' moment for Vidya Balan in the overall set up of 'The Dirty Picture'. While Shreya Ghoshal starts the song well with Vishal-Shekhar bringing on the beats that remind of 'Mehbooba Mehbooba' [Sholay], it is the arrival of Rana Mazumder that adds further variation as it takes the song into 'Yamma Yamma' [Shaan] mode. Pretty much the kind of song where Vishal-Shekhar got an opportunity to pay homage (yet again) to R.D. Burman, it's a pity that 'Twinkle Twinkle' ends in three minutes flat.
Music of The Dirty Picture takes the expected route and delivers what it promised once 'Ooo La La' came on air. While this song is a chartbuster all the way, even 'Ishq Sufiyana' has in it to find long legs for itself, courtesy Emraan Hashmi's strong fan base lapping it up. As for the added 'tadka' there is 'Twinkle Twinkle' that should keep the mood naughty-n-entertaining, as is the theme and genre of the film as well.

Ra.one three week total business
Rockstar ten day total business
Rockstar did well at multiplexes in its second weekend. The collections were around 10 crore nett. The film collected 2.50 crore nett on Friday, 3.25 crore nett on Saturday and 4.25 crore nett on Sunday. This takes the ten total of Rockstar to 57.50 crore nett approx.
The best business for the film has come in the Delhi/NCR area especially Delhi city and Gurgaon. The film has performed below the mark in East India and Nizam. The second week should manage around 15 crore nett business.
Desi Boyz will release on Friday so 70 crore nett looks the top end of its range for lifetime business.

Desi Boyz gets 'A' certificate, The Dirty Picture passed without any cut
Aamir's Talaash promo to come with Shahrukh's Don 2
"Yes, the First Look of Talaash would be attached to the prints of Don 2. It has been a call taken by producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Shah Rukh as well as Aamir are fine with it. For audience, this would be nothing less than a double whammy of sorts since it would be for the first time anything related to Talaash would be showcased", informs out well informed source.
For last few months there have been immense speculations around the real plot of Talaash. Rumours have ranged from Aamir playing a cop to his spirit doing an investigation to Rani Mukerji playing his wife to Kareena enacting the character of a prostitute. However, the makers have chosen to stay mum all this while and are now using Don 2 as a platform to establish the real feel of the film.
"What also makes this further interesting is the fact that Shah Rukh and Aamir are also the co-producers along with Ritesh and Farhan on these respective films. Shah Rukh too is fine with promo of Aamir's film being attached to his Don 2. Moreover there hasn't been any real tension between Shah Rukh and Aamir even though latter is good pals with Salman", the source continues.
This also translates into the fact that the makers of Talaash are now actively kick-starting an active promotional campaign full six months in advance. Even though this dramatic thriller directed by Reema Kagti would arrive only in June next year, everyone associated with the film feel that it would be good to reveal at least a little bit about Talaash well in advance so that all speculations can be quashed.
On contacted, Ritesh confirmed the news. He said, "Talaash is the final title and we would be unveiling the film along with Don 2."
